Girls, Girls, Girls

We had a fun day Wednesday night.  Okay,,,at least I did.  Lacey (6) decided she was ready for earrings.  It's been along time coming.  She's been very afraid to do it, so we let her decide when was right.  She was very excited and nervous at the same time.  After it was done she smiled for hours.  When she got ready for school today, she was very excited to show her friends.

On the other hand.......Kayla (12) got her brows waxed for the first time......not the experience I had planned for her.  She was nervous and excited before but after, was mad.  In my mind I'm thinking she would love it.  I love having mine done and I wanted to share that.  Not such a good idea!  I first got the idea when she and I were shopping for make-up the other day.  You know, your daughter is growing up and you can share so many new things with them.  Make-up, brow waxing, movies, shopping, haircuts, talking, etc.  Well I guess I jumped the gun here.  So sorry Kayla.......I'll have to think of other ways to bond with my daughter.  I think they look great.

We're forgiven for now......

Being a mom is hard.....knowing what to do and what not to do is difficult.  Our intentions are great....to us.  To our kids, we sometimes come across as being controlling or overbearing...but that's just not the case.  We're trying to share life experiences with them and build memories.  Anyway,  Motherhood and Wifehood(that's another story), is hit and miss.  We just keep trying.:):)

On Vacation

I'll be going out of town, Friday-Tuesday, so I don't know if I'll be able to blog.  I always take my laptop to the cabin......but we get so busy having fun, I forget to blog.

My family is going to the Mountain Man Rendezvous in Wyoming.  We went last year and it was a blast.  Tons of people dress up in costume.  Some a little too revealing, though.  I go for the food.....I know, I know......that food is so fatty!  But since it's only once a year.....I don't care:):)  They have tons of stuff for sale.  Last year I got a handmade, leather bag.  I'll be taking it with me this year.  From bags to jewelry to dream-catchers and everything else in between.  I can't wait to go with our kids, it's so fun to watch the demonstrations.

Nie Nie Day

Design Mom has declared Thursday, August 28 as Nie Nie Day.  With good reason. 

I don't know this couple but I've read the story.  It's very touching and heartbreaking.  The strength and faith of this family is incredible.  There is a network of  people pulling together to help this couple who have been badly burned from an aircraft accident.  I can't do the story justice so I will direct you to C Jane to read the whole story.

Balloons to Heaven

Yesterday was my mother-n-laws birthday.......she passed from us to heaven a couple years ago.  We remembered her by going to the cemetary and leaving flowers.  You can't see all the flowers but there were many.  She touched each of our hearts so much.  We miss her still.


In celebration of her life we wanted to give her something....so like always, we keep it fun.  Just like she would want.  Brian (the love of my life) bought balloons for the kids to write notes on and send to heaven.  We met my sister-n-law (Laura and her cute kids) at Brian's parents house. After the kids wrote their notes we sent them to heaven.  Wow!.....what an awesome feeling as I watched the balloons rise.  My father-n-law told the kids.....how Grandma is catching the balloons in her heart.  Touching!

Talk About Tuesday (Updated)

I've had a lot of ?'s about this product.....so I wanted to share how I stumbled across these.  I was in Hancock Fabrics buying heat resistant material to make hot pads.  The clerk commented on the material and said she didn't know why companies didn't make curling iron covers.  My mind was a thinking!!!!  She said, long ago, curling iron covers were available to buy but in recent years was unable to find any......and that's how it started!  On my way home I decided how I was going to make these and got work.

I had a great work day yesterday....I made these Hot Iron Sleeves.  I love making these, they are fun and useful. 
I wanted to share them on Talk About Tuesday because I'm so proud of myself for finishing.  I've sold out of all my other Sleeves so I was desperate to have  more. 
The last few weeks have been so busy getting the kids ready for school.  I think moms should get a bonus box of bon bons, a long, hot bath and a wonderful massage  for accomplishing this task. 
Anyway, I have to get back to work.  I have two shows coming up and I have a lot of catching up to do.
 

These sleeves are great for your curling iron or flat iron.  The lining is a heat resistant material to keep a warm (not HOT) hot iron safe.  Remember to unplug your iron for at least one minute before putting it inside the sleeve.  A great traveling tool for your suitcase too.  Measures 5"x15"  $10 each.

Scentsy

If you haven't heard of Scentsy......you can find out about it here.  A friend of mine, Kara Egan and her sister-n-law, started Scentsy.  These two ladies are brilliant!  From starting in their basement to having hundreds of consultants. Scentsy has grown into a very large company.....and growing Amazingly Fast! 

I love Scentsy!  I love my house to smell great!  They have amazing flavors.....yummy!  No flame to worry about or wax to worry about.  I have five of the warmers in my house and I want more....they are so cute.  Check out the Scentsy....you'll love it!

 

First Day of School

I can't believe it's already time for school.....but....hooray!!!!  Four of my kids go to a Charter School.  I have a sixth grader, two fifth graders and a first grader....Wow!  They were so cute on their first day.

My two oldest kids will start on Monday.....7th and 9th grade......wow, that ages me.  I'll post a pic of them soon.

I can't believe how fast they grow.  My youngest is 2 and I'm soaking up every minute.  He'll be going into school soon enough.  I'm so thankful to be able to stay home.  I thank my supportive hubby for that.  I know some moms have to work and I don't have anything against that.  I was a working mom for along time, so I know what it's like to leave kids everyday at a sitters house.  It's not easy!  I'm just really grateful to be able to stay home for them.

Modest Clothes

If you're looking for modest clothes at great prices.......I have some great ideas for you.  One of my favorites is Coverwear and Down East Basics.  They have the cutest things!!! Love it!

What I love about Down East Basics(above) is the half sleeves on the tees.  I don't really like to show off my arms so I love the coverage.

Another fav is Coverwear.....not only can you buy great clothes, you can become a rep and get great discounts.  I'm all about discounts!  If I had the time....I would be a rep.

Monster Bus Ride

The Sears Grand close to our house has this HUGE Monster School Bus.  We stopped by to take a look and our boys went crazy( our girls went home with my brother and his cute family, and we kept his two boys).  So we put 7 boys on this bus for a FAST ride around the parking lot.  This is as they were getting on.
